A beginner cardio workout might be your stepping stone to shedding extra pounds. However, quite a few people make the mistake of not exercising at a high enough intensity, and therefore don’t get the results they would like to have. As you get into better physical condition, losing weight will become more of a challenge. A sedentary person who just begins a cardio routine will find it easier to shed pounds because their body isn’t in very good shape.

For example, let’s say a sedentary person began walking for 30 minutes per day, 3 days per week. Over a month or so, this person would certainly lose weight even if they didn’t change their diet much. However, after some time the body would begin to adjust to this routine and the weight loss will cease. Therefore, in order for this person to continue shedding pounds, he or she must increase the intensity.

Exercising is beneficial regardless of what time of day you do it. With that said, some experts claim that exercising soon after you wake up provides the best results. The body has low glycogen since it hasn’t been fed for hours. Because of this, the body will burn more fat to use as energy during your workout.

If you were to exercise hours after a meal, then your body would first use the energy from that food for your workout. You could still burn fat, but not as much as you would in the morning.

For this reason, exercising early in the morning before eating is said to be the best time of the day.

Another advantage of exercising at this time is that it sets the tone for the rest of your day. It helps shake out the cobwebs and give you energy to be at your best.

With that said, this time of day may not be feasible for you. What matters most is that you’re physically active on a daily basis so you can stay healthy, regardless of what time of day it is. Some people may find that the evenings are the best time to exercise because of their schedule.

If you can squeeze in a 20-30 minute workout in the morning, then try it for awhile to see whether or not it works for you.

You might find that waking up a little bit earlier to do so is more than worth it in the end.
